Role Summary
The purpose of the role is to drive health and safety culture and profile across the UK businesses. The Health & Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing all health and safety protocols within the organization. The role ensures compliance with legal health and safety guidelines, creates a culture of safety awareness, and works proactively to reduce the risk of accidents, injuries, and occupational illnesses. In addition, the role will drive sustainability standards and challenging the business in relation to greenhouse gas emissions and waste management.

Main Duties
Health & Safety Policy Development:
· Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s health and safety policies, procedures, and systems.
· Ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
· Regularly review and update safety policies to reflect changes in legislation and company processes.
· Implement relevant safety signage when required.
Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification:
· Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards in the workplace.
· Develop and implement action plans to address and mitigate risks.
· Lead accident investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
· Management of Fire Risk Assessment (External) actions, including fire schedule management & equipment checks.
Training and Development:
· Organize and conduct health and safety training programs for employees at all levels, including emergency preparedness, manual handling, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
· Ensure employees are trained in and comply with company safety procedures.
· Ensure your team organise and conduct H&S training induction for employees at all levels.
· Keep up-to-date with changes in health and safety legislation and ensure all employees are informed and trained accordingly.
Monitoring and Reporting:
· Design and execute safety awareness campaigns.
· Monitor and report on health and safety compliance, trends, and incidents to senior management.
· Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, risk assessments, accident investigations, and regulatory compliance.
· Prepare and submit reports required by regulatory authorities.
Incident Management:
· Manage the reporting and investigation of all workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses.
· Lead efforts to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
· Maintain a first-aid and emergency response plan and coordinate emergency response drills.
Auditing and Compliance:
· Conduct internal health and safety audits, ensuring continuous compliance with company standards and regulations.
· Coordinate external audits and inspections by regulatory agencies or third-party auditors.
· Collaborate with external bodies and regulatory authorities to ensure adherence to industry standards.
· Conduct manual handling assessments.
Workplace Safety Culture:
· Promote and foster a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
· Advise management on best practices and improvements for employee health and wellbeing.
· Engage employees in safety initiatives and encourage reporting of potential risks.
Wellness:
· Oversee Mental Health First Aid programs, providing support and resources to promote mental well-being among employees.
DVR:
· Responsible to aim at achieving net zero Greenhouse gas emissions (scope 1, 2 and 3)
· Develop and implement waste management strategies to achieve net zero waste.
· H&S, GGE, supplier compliance and waste management reporting for DVR relating to EU Warehouse/Logistic aspects of the business.
Budgeting and Resource Management:
· Manage the health and safety budget, ensuring adequate provision of safety equipment, signage, and other resources.
· Identify and procure appropriate PPE, safety tools, and training materials.
Collaboration and Leadership:
· Work closely with department heads and supervisors to ensure safety procedures are being followed across all teams.
· Act as the main point of contact for all health and safety issues within the organization.
· Host and minute IS-Group H&S meeting when required.

Education & Experience
- 5+ years’ experience in managing health & safety and environmental standards
- 5+ years’ experience leading and developing teams.
- Proven track record of identifying and implementing improvement initiatives.
- Experience in risk assessment, auditing, and accident investigation.
- Evidence of implementing ISO45001and ISO14001 into a distribution/manufacturing style business advantageous.
- Health and Safety certification (NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA)
